Serving Boston, Quincy and the South Shore, we’re committed to making life with your dog easier, more peaceful, and more joyful—for both of you.
At MM Dog Training LLC, we believe that great training starts with connection. Our mission is to help dogs and their people build trust, strengthen their bond, and learn to navigate the human world—together.
Founded by James McQuillan, CPDT-KA, MM Dog Training LLC was inspired by years of hands-on experience and a deep respect for the relationship between dogs and their people. Working with dogs revealed something powerful: when we communicate clearly and with compassion, dogs respond with confidence, calm, and loyalty.
We use science-backed, positive reinforcement methods that honor who your dog is while teaching them how to thrive in your life. Whether you’re raising a puppy, adopting a rescue, or working through reactivity or overstimulation, we meet you where you are and help you move forward—one step at a time.
Training shouldn’t feel like fixing a broken dog. It should feel like building a relationship.
Dogs repeat behaviors that are rewarding. Catch your dog doing something right—like settling calmly or checking in with you—and reward it with treats, praise, or play. Reinforce the good so it happens more often!
Dogs thrive on clear, consistent cues. Use the same words and rules every time, and make sure everyone in the household is on the same page. If “off” means get off the couch, don’t sometimes let them stay up there.
Reward or correct behavior within 1–2 seconds to help your dog connect the dots. Delayed feedback can confuse them and slow learning.
Your dog isn’t trying to dominate you—they’re just trying to feel safe, get their needs met, and understand what works. Focus on communication and teamwork, not control.
